Hello dear watchers,

I would like to say few things about using manual focusing over auto focus. Let's get clear about this. My goal is not to underestimate the using of auto focus, I'm just trying to show you some scenarios when manual focus is much better choice! :)

:bulletgreen: Low Light - Shooting in low light conditions can be difficult for some cameras and lenses when it comes to focusing and without AF assist light from camera or a flash it can be really tough situation. As you have probably noticed your camera is struggling to focus on dark objects during night which have little or no light or contrast. This is the situation when manual focus comes in handy.  Manually you will focus much more accurate and faster, and you will not miss a great shot.

:bulletgreen: Shooting Through Glass or Wire Fences - Shooting through the glass or fence and through any other obstacle like grass blades, sticks and leaves can confuse auto focus system very easy. Using manual focus will get your focus right on the subject in much shorter time. This can be also very handy for wildlife photography.

:bulletgreen: Portraits - Most important aspect of portrait photography is the eyes. When shooting portraits focus needs to be precise and right on the subject's eyes. Manual focus gives you full control over focus and you can easily set the focus right where you want it.

:bulletgreen: Macro - The narrow depth of field in macro photography mean that you need to be incredibly precise with focusing. Just like in portrait photography your focus needs to be on the right place and manual focus allows you that.

:bulletred: Photographic Experience - In my opinion this is the biggest advantage of manual focusing. Using manual focus will force you to think more about photographs you taking and became better photographer. The feeling when you make proper shot using full manual lens is beautiful! At that moment you know you are entirely responsible for your work. For me, it's the only way to truly experience the photography.

I'm sure there are more reasons to use manual focus but these are the the most important one. In few words - big advantage of using manual focus over auto focus is full control. Cameras can never get into your brain and see where do you want to put your focus. And your eye is still more accurate in some situations than the AF system. Keep on mind that not all lenses are designed for manual focusing. You will need to practice and learn some tricks before you master manual focusing, and when you do, it will become very useful!

That's all for now :)

PS. If you have some questions or suggestions or you want to share your opinion, don't be shy and feel free to contact me :)
